Answer :

Given -

  • Wavelength spectrum extends from violet to red.
  • The wavelength of violet is 400 nm.
  • The wavelength of red is 750 nm.

To Find -

  • The wavelengths are to be expressed in frequencies.

Solution -

We know that, v = c/λ.

So, frequency of violet light = v = 3.00 × 10⁸/400 × 10^{-9}

⇒ 7.50 × 10¹⁴ Hz

Frequency of red light = v = 3.00 × 10⁸/750 × 10^{-9}

⇒ 4.00 × 10¹⁴ Hz

So, the range of visible spectrum is from : 4.00 × 10¹⁴ Hz to 7.5 × 10¹⁴ Hz.
