Answer:

x = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

In the first right triangle sides are 1cm and 1 cm.

Using Pythagoras theorem we get :

1² + 1² = hypotenuse²

Hypotenuse = √1+1

Hypotenuse = √2

In the second triangle the hypotenuse of the first triangle becomes the base of the second triangle

Using Pythagoras theorem we get :

(√2)² + (√2)² = hypotenuse²

Hypotenuse = √4

Hypotenuse = 2

In the third triangle the hypotenuse of the second triangle becomes the base of the third triangle.

Using Pythagoras theorem we get :

2² + (√5)² = x

x = √9

x = 3

Hope this helps.....

Answer:

it can be solved using Pythagoras theorem

Step-by-step explanation:

consider the first triangles

1²+1²=__

2=__

__=√2

second triangle

(√2)²+(√2)²=__

2+2=__

__=√4

__=2

third triangle

2²+(√5)²=__

4+5=__

__=√9

so x=3
