for outermost e- in s screening constant (sigma)=0

now, METHOD TO CALCULATE Z EFF↓↓

→ Each n 'e' contribute =0.35

→ each (n-1) 'e' contribute = 0.85

→ each (n-2), (n-3)....contribute =1

hete, n = outermost shell number

now,

calculate Zeff for Vanadium,

=>( 1×0.35) + (11×0.85) + (10×1)

=> 0.35 + 9.35 + 10

=> 19.70

Zeff =( Z - sigma)

= (23-14.70)

= 8.30
