Calculation of the valency:
( for metals- metals have their valency equal to the number of Valence electrons metal have
1,2,3 electrons in their last shell and hence their valency will be 1, 2 or 3.

(ii) for non metals:- non metals have 5, 6 or 7 electrons in their last shell and their valency can
be calculated by the following formula:-
