w=mg
thus,on the earths surface, w=1*9.8 =9.8
it may vary on other planets

shiphrah: can u tell me in detail plz
TPS: weight is a force. It is the force with which an object is pulled towards earth. The magnitude of weight can be calculated by the normal formula which is used to calculate force, that is force = mass*acceleration.
Here, acceleration is acceleration due to gravity(g) and its value(on earth) is 9.8 m/s^2.
So weight = m*g = 1kg * 9.8 m/s^2 = 9.8 Newton
shiphrah: thankq so much
TPS: you are welcome!
