Turmeric powder can be wetted and spread on paper. That is yellow. When acid is put on it, there is no effect. When a base is put on it, it turns red. So it can indicate only bases.
China rose is a liquid solution. It is rose in color. It becomes pink or magenta when acid is put on it. It becomes green when a base is put on it.
