In our surroundings, we may observe many things changing their state.
In them, Camphor is one of the example which turns from solid to gas.
- Camphor disappears if we leave it in air for sometime
- Sublimation takes place here.
Sublimation :
- Changing of state from solid to gas directly is called sublimation.
- This change of state occurs due to variations in temperature, pressure etc..
- Particles of camphor turn into gaseous form and mixes with air.
- This is why camphor disappears.
Note :
- Camphor must be stored in an air tight container to avoid this.
Examples :
- Dry ice
- Moth balls
- Room fresheners
