Yes, a can have acceleration with zero velocity. When an object is thrown upwards, then at the maximum height,velocity of body is zero at that instantbut it has acceleration due to gravity. ...acceleration is rate of change invelocity . As both are vectors, changecan be in magnitude or direction or both.
