can a clinical thermometer be used to measure the temperature of boiling water?Why?

No, laboratory thermometer should be used because the water boils at 100° C and the final marking of clinical thermometer is at 100° C..

No, because the highest temperature that a clinical thermometer is capable of recording is 100°C and it is not necessary for the water to be exactly 100°C while boiling it is likely to be a little higher than that.
