No, current carrying solenoid fall freely stay in North - South direction because it behaves as a bar magnet. When current flow through a solenoid is reversed the it direction is also reversed.

Answer:

Explanation:

(a) No, a freely suspended current-carrying solenoid comes to rest pointing in the North-South direction only, just like a freely suspended bar magnet.

(b) When the direction of current in the solenoid is reversed, the direction of the magnetic field is also reversed. On reversing the current, its polarity is reversed and it will turn at 180 degrees.
