The splitting up of white light into seven colours on passing through a transparent medium like a glass prism is called dispersion of light. The dispersion of white light occurs because the angle of refraction for different colours of light is different when passing through the glass prims.

it cannot, because in glass slab, the opposite sides are parallel and therefore different colors emerge parallel to each other and are seen simultaneously. Therefore, dispersion doesn't occur in a glass slab.

No.

The glass slab has two parallel surfaces. The light rays of different colors get dispersed during the refraction at the first surface. But they undergo a reverse of the dispersion at the other surface when exiting the glass slab. So the colourful dispersion combines back into white light.
