- A lens works because of the bending of light i.e. refraction.
- Refraction occurs because of the change in the speed of light when light travels between different media.
- If we use it in the same medium of which it is made, there will be no change in medium and so the speed of light will remain the same.
- So there would not be any bending of light and the lens will not be useful.
