Magnet cannot exists without poles. If it is cut diagonally it creates an another magnetism like a chain. This is known as molecular theory of magnetism, it is discover by webber

Magnet becomes a magnet because all the elements in the material have aligned themselves in a particular direction. Each small element in the bar magnet or other shaped magnet is oriented towards North-south pole of the magnet. Each small element is a magnet in itself. The tiny elements are of size close molecular size.
Now, like we can separate the electric charges, if we cut a big magnet in to pieces, the north south poles at the new cut ends will be active poles.
A magnet cannot exist with both poles. As millions of tiny magnetic pole pairs make the big magnet.
Electric charges can be made to flow to the extreme ends of a conductor. Not magnetic poles.
