can a matchstick burn by itself at room temperature ? why or why not ?

nope it is not possible due to the way it is manufactured. This is mainly because it's ignition temperature(temperature at which it catches fire) is much more than the normal room temperature(25°C). So. we need to heat it up to rise it's temperature & to make it reach to its ignition temperature to catch fire.
