can a mixture of sugar and sand be separated by adding them to water and then filtering this mixture?give reasons for your answer​

yes because when we pore water sugar as a soluble substance will dissolve in water and sand as the insoluble substance will not dissolve in water and when we filter it water will pass easily the filter paper and sand will not pass through filter paper

Then by filtering the mixture sand get separated as a residue. And at last by evaporation we can separate the sugar from the water. This entire process is called Solvent extraction method.

In this way we can separate sugar and sand from their mixture.
