speed is a scalar quantity. it has only magnitude.
but velocity is a vector quantity. it has both magnitude and velocity.
consider an example,
a body moving with constant speed in a circle.
here, the speed is constant. But it's velocity vary from point to point because the direction of velocity is tangential to the path , which changes from point to point.
