Can a pendulum clock be used in an earth satellite?

Answer ⇒ No.

Explanation ⇒ Pendulum clock cannot be used in the Earth's Satellite because Time Period of the Pendulum clock depends upon the Acceleration due to the gravity as,

T = 2π √(l/g)

It varies inversely keeping the length cosnatnt and not considering the thermal expansion.

Now, Acceleration due to the gravity is zero in the Earth Satellite.

∴ T = infinity (not defined)

This means, Either the clock will not oscillate or may have any time period.


Thus, It cannot be used in Satellite.
