To check that a triangle can be formed by given points we can use this relation

largest side< sum of other two sides

c < a+b

If this is not kept, then one of two things can occur

1. If the length of two sides is equal to the third side, then you just have a straight line when the points are connected.

2. If the length of two sides is less than the third side, then two of the sides will not be able to meet so a closed triangle cannot form.

in this case largest side is 9

to verify we use given relation

lhs =9

rhs=5+9

       =9

here lhs=rhs

it will result into a straight line

therefore we cannot construct a triangle with sides 4,5,9cm

sum of any two sides of a triangle should be greater than the third side
4+5=9
9=9
therefore, it can't form a triangle because sum of two sides is equal to the third side.
hope it helps
