when a bus is moving on the road , the passengers sitting inside the bus seems to be in the state of rest but when one observer, who was not in the bus but watching the bus moving on the road , the observer sees the bus was in the state of motion along the passangers who was sitting inside the bus.

Motion and rest are relative to a reference object. The trees are said to be in motion to the person in the train as there is change in surroundings and position with time. Whereas the co-passengers are said to stationary as there is no change in position and surroundings with time.
