Distance is the point of where it starts moving and then at another point where it completely comes to rest. It is found by tracing along the path an object moves.
Displacement is the shortest distance from where a body starts moving and then at where it comes to end.
Hence,For example - if you go to the market which is 500 m away from your house, then the distance traveled by you from house to market and back again from market to house will be 1000 m or 1 km.
But the displacement will be 0 (zero) cause you are back at where you started. Your displacement was Maximum at when you were at market.
