refraction means bending of light..

now by using a prism, it has two triangular and three rectangular lateral surfaces.

when a ray of light is passed through a prism the ray of light bends then when the ray of light comes of of the prism it again bends which forms a parallel sides.

when a ray of light is entered the white lite divides into 7colours and its called VIBGYOR

violet

indigo

blue

green

yellow

orange

red

these are the seven colours formed.....
