ANSWER:

  • Zeros of the polynomial = 3√2 and -2√2.

GIVEN:

  • Sum of zeros = √2.
  • Product of zeros = -12.

TO FIND:

  • A quadrtic polynomial whose sum of zeros is √2 and product of zeros is (-12).

SOLUTION:

Quadratic polynomial when Zeros are given:

= x²-(α+β)x +αβ .....(i)

Sum of zeros = √2.

Product of zeros = -12.

Putting the values in eq (i)

= x²-√2x-12

= x²-3√2x+2√2x-12

= (x²-3√2x) +(2√2x-12)

= x(x-3√2)+2√2(x-3√2)

= (x-3√2)(x+2√2)

Either x-3√2 = 0

=> x = 3√2

Either x+2√2 = 0

=> x = -2√2.

Zeros of the polynomial = 3√2 and -2√2.
