Mensuration is an important branch of geometry which deals with the calculation of area, perimeter, volume, surface area etc. of especially 2D & 3D objects ( I don't know about 4D or 5D. Sorry for that.).
Mensuration has wide applications in our day to day life. Suppose we have to build a wall of given dimensions using bricks of given dimensions & given percentage of cement etc. in it. Then we'll have to calculate the volumes of bricks as well as walls & consider the percentage of cement to find the number of bricks needed for construction.
Without mensuration, it'll be nearly impossible to construct buildings perfectly with minimum wastage of material .
Also, mensuration is probably used in industries to find out the amount of material needed to produce a given number of objects.

well that's the measurement u do whether u consider area or perimeter of any other thing.
