We can see we are getting a right angled triangle . and we know the other two sides of the triangle . here is the place where pythagorus theorem come to our rescue .

we are assuming hypotenuse = diagonal

 \bold{acc. \: to \: pythagoras \: theorem : } \\  {base}^{2}  +  {perpendicular}^{2}  =  {hypotenuse}^{2}

 {8}^{2}  +  {4}^{2}  =  {h}^{2}

48 + 16 = 64

 {h}^{2} = 64

h \:  =  \sqrt{64}  \\ h = 8

diagonal = 8cm
