Using Arrhenius' definition, acids are those that produce the hydrogen ion when dissolved in water ( ) while bases produce the hydroxide ion ( ). ... These ions, when in water, act as charge carriers and can hence conduct electricity. Stronger acids dissociate completely and produce more of the ions.

Aim:To prove Acid solution in water conducts electricity
Materials:A cardboard,2 wires, 100ml beaker, dil. HCL,230 volt AC plug, bulb, graphite rods
Procedure:Take a cardboard
2.drill two holes on it
3.introduce two different coloured wires and keep it on a 100ml beaker
4.connect a wire to one terminal of an electrical plug and other wire to a bulb holder having bulb
5.take dil. HCL solution in the beaker
6.complete circuit connecting to a switch
7.switch the plug key
8.the bulb glows
9.the bulb glows because HCL is qn aqueous solution so it produces H+ ion.
