Reported speech is when we tell someone what another person said. To do this, we can use direct speech or indirect speech. direct speech: 'I work in a bank,' said Daniel. indirect speech: Daniel said that he worked in a bank.

Basic Terms of Direct and Indirect Speech in hindi:

Inverted commas के बाहर जो verb होता है उसे Reporting verb कहा जाता है। Inverted commas के अंदर जो sentecne होता है उसे Reporting Speech कहते है। Reporting verb और Reporting Speech को जोड़ने के लिए जिन शब्दों का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है उन्हें Connecting Words कहते है।

Answer:

Reported speech means someone said to someone that something had happened with him or her.

  • Example- John said ' I am happy for your victory' ( Direct speech)
  • John said he was happy for my victory.( Reported speech)

Explanation:

What were the changes in reported speech -

1. I changes to me

2. The tense of the verb changes means am changes to was

3. Your changes my.

So, reported speech means first person tell third person what happened between first and second person.

HOPE IT HELPS YOU. HAVE A NICE DAY.
