hello ji..

yaar...ye bhi nahi pata?

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in India in order to celebrate birthday of God Ganesha. As per the legend, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha. Once Goddess Parvati, in the absence of Lord Shiva was going for a bath and asked Ganesha to guard the door while she took the bath. Meanwhile, Lord Shiva was returning from his meditation and he wanted to meet his wife. Lord Shiva was stopped at the door by Ganesha. In anger, Lord Shiva cut off Ganesha’s head. When Goddess Parvati saw this, she got enraged and took the form of Goddess Kali and she threatened that she will destroy the World. Afraid of her anger, everyone suggested Lord Shiva to think of a solution and calm Goddess Kali. Shiva then ordered his followers to bring the head of the child who was living in negligence of its parent. His followers brought the head of an elephant and Lord Shiva attached the head on Ganesha’s body and brought it back to life.

Ganesha Chaturthi (गणेश चतुर्थी) or Ganesh Utsav (गणेश उत्सव) i.e., festival of Lord Ganesha is celebrated by Hindus around the world as the birthday of Lord Ganesha.

It is said that on this day Lord Shiva gave an elephant head to his son Ganesha and Lord Ganesha declared as superior to all the gods and other gods blessed him with many boons.

It is believed that one who worships Lord Ganesha on this seeks his blessings.

hope it helps!!
