Kalidas was a simpleton. Every villager made a fool of him. Tales of his feats were the best gossip topic.

EXPLANATION:

One day Kalidas decided to do some work and earn money. Since no one was willing to give him work for his foolishness he decided to work on his own. He decided to cut wood and sell it. On the roadside there was a big Mahagony tree. Kalidas decided to chop its fat branches. He climbed up the tree and sat on one its branches. Comfortably perched he started cutting the branch. But alas! The foolish man started chopping from the end on which he was sitting. Half way through his work a passer-by came by. Seeing the danger ahead he warned Kalidas that he would fall off the tree the moment the branch was snapped.

Kalidas paid no heed to his words and as predicted fell headlong down. The foolish man instead of realizing his mistake took the passer-by to be a Messiah or a Saint who could prophesize the future. So foolish was Kalidas.
