let \:   {2}^{x}   =  {3}^{y}  =  {12}^{z}  = a \\ by \: this :  \\ 2 =  {a}^{ \frac{1}{x} }  \\ 3 =  {a}^{ \frac{1}{y} }  \\ 12 =  {a}^{ \frac{1}{z} }  \\  \: we \: know \: that \: 12 = 4 \times 3 =  {2}^{2}  \times 3 \\ we \: can \: also \: write \: this \: as :    \\ {a}^{ \frac{1}{z} }  =  {a}^{ \frac{2 \times 1}{x} }  \times  {a}^{ \frac{1}{y} }  \\ since \:  {b}^{m}  \times  {b}^{n}  =  {b}^{m + n} \\  \\  {a}^{ \frac{1}{z} } =  {a}^{ \frac{2}{x} \:  +  \frac{1}{y}  }    \\  since \: the \: base \: is \: same \\  \frac{1}{z}  \:  =   \frac{2}{x}  +  \frac{1}{y}  \\ q.e.d.
