Solution:

∠ACD + ∠x + ∠BCE = 180^{o}

70^{o} + x + 40^{o} = 180^{o}

110^{o} + x = 180^{o}

x =  180^{o} - 110^{o}

x = 70^{o}

Therefore, x = 70^{o}
