multiply both sides by x ,

x*S = x + 2x2 + 3x3 + .................(ii)

(i) - (ii)

(1 – x) S = 1 + x + x2 + x3 + .........

(1 – x) S = 1/(1-x)

S = 1/(1-x)² (Ans.)

Part (2)

S = 1+4x+7x^2+10x^3+……………….(i)

S.x = 1.x+4.x^2+7.x^3+10.x^4+…………(ii)

(i) - (ii)

S(1-x) = 1+3x+3x^2+3x^3+3x^4+……….

S(1-x) = 1+ 3x/(1-x) =(1-x+3x)/(1-x)

S = (1+2x)/(1-x)^2. (Ans.)
