This/that house is so quiet that even the tiniest mouse can be heard.

Explanation:

In the given sentence, ‘The house is so quiet that even the tiniest mouse can be heard’, the error lies in the determiner –‘the’ placed before the word ‘house’.

The determiner in a sentence signifies the importance of the noun before which it is placed. In the sentence ‘the house’ sounds rather vague.

It does not answer the question ‘which’. To rectify the error we must add a demonstrative pronoun such as ‘this’ or ‘that’. The determiner will then specifically signify which house.
