Answer:

1. (a). Carbon is being oxidised.

(b). Lead oxide is being reduced.

2. (a). Carbon is reducing agent.

(b). Tin oxide is oxidising agent.

3. (a). A,P,S can be aluminium, calcium, magnesium, potassium or sodium because these metals are more reactive than carbon whereas Z,I,L can be iron, zinc, tin or lead as these are less reactive than carbon.

(b). metal A being more reactive than carbon is obtained by electrolysis.

(c). metal Z being less reactive than carbon can be obtained by reduction with carbon.

4. Calcium can't be extracted by heating with carbon because it is more reactive than carbon. It is obtained by electrolysis.

5. Iron isn't a highly reactive metal so it's not extracted by using electrolysis. It can simply be obtained by heating with carbon.

6. Z being a noble metal is obtained in freer state only.

X can be obtained by electrolysis as it is more reactive than magnesium.

Y can be obtained by reduction with carbon because it's reactivity is in b/w iron and lead.
