let roots of equation a

and b

now

1/a -1/b = b-a/ab ....(1)

from equation

ab = -2 ....(2)

a+b = -1

now

(a+b)^2 = (a - b)^2 +

4ab

so

1 = (a-b)^2 - 8

a - b = √9

a-b = 3

then

b-a = -3 ...(3)

put value of ab and b-a

from equation. (2) & (3) in equation (1)

so

1/a - 1/b = -3/-2
= 3/2
