How inrcease in number of individual considered a characterstic of growth..

In unicellular organisms

increase in no of cells = increase in no of individuals ( reproduction)

In multicellular organisms

Increase in no of cells = increase in size of the body ( growth)

Hence reproduction is considered synonymous with growth
