How √2-8√2 = -7√2 ?

Mostly in questions, we do not have to find the value of \sqrt{2} and then solve.

As \sqrt{2} is an irrational number, we can take a common variable x in its place. So our equation forms as:

x-8x [Really simple now!]

=-7x or [Putting the value of x],

we can write it as -7\sqrt{2}
