Synopsis:

Formation:
The Indian National Congress was started in 1885 on the advice of Indian Civil Servant, Allan Octavian Hume ( A.O.Hume, British men).
Though it is started to control Indians by Indians on the advise of British, it is converted to a Independence League. It's first session was held at Bombay with head W.C.Bannerjee.

Members:
M.G.Ranade, Tilak, Gokhale, Subramania Iyer are some of the leaders who were the members of Congress. The members of the Congress are divided into two as Moderates and Extremists.

Moderates:
Moderates are the members mostly belongs Middle Class family and well educated. They followed peaceful approach with the British. Though the British started to fulfill their deeds, Moderates asked more reform which irritated British and later they didn't look after them.
The demands of Moderates were described by extremists as Political Mendicancy. Gopala Krishna Gokhale, Surendranth Bannerjee, Dadabai Naoroji ate the important members of these committee

Extremists:
They are totally opposite to the Moderates. They followed radical way to achieve their demands. They were eager to remove the British and to convert moderates into extremists. Lala Lajpat Rai, Tilak, Bipin Chandra Pal are the important members of these committee.

Surat Split and Lucknow Pact:
The breaking point of point was held at Surat in 1907. The fight arose between members on selecting the leader of their Party. In that fight, Moderates won and Extremists left the congress. It is the great loss of Congress which could not be satisfied until 1916. Yeah, in Lucknow both of them were reunited.

️Under Mahatama Gandhi:
After the demise of Tilak, M.K.Gandhi took over the charge of Congress. His ultimate leadership made the British baffled. In Quit India Movement, He passed a resolution that,
" I shall not be satisfied until I get full freedom. We shall either free India or die".

After Independence, Gandhiji asked the members of the Congress to disperse it. But the members didn't obey it and until now it got curses from people.

Indian National Congress wished to speak for all the people of India, irrespective of class, color, caste, creed, language, or gender. It stated that India, its resources and systems were not of any one class or community of India, but of all the different communities of India.
