World War I was a major conflict fought between 1914 and 1918. Other names for World War I include the FirstWorld War, WWI, the War to End AllWars, and the Great War. World War I was fought between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. ... The United States also fought on the side of the Allies after 1917...

Hope this helps you out!

World War 1 was one of the bloodiest wars fought in human history,it was a global war originating in Europe that lasted from 28 July 1914 to 11 November 1918.
World War I began in 1914, after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and lasted until 1918. During the conflict, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire (the Central Powers) fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States (the Allied Powers).

Easily World War I being called "The War to End All Wars".

Turns out, it led to World War II, as well as numerous wars for independence, colonialism, and other harmful events in history that came about as a result of its outcome (ie. Arab Revolt/breaking up of Ottoman Empire, end of Russian monarchy leading to millions dead under Soviet rule, etc).

You could say that "The War to End All Wars" brought about so many major conflicts we have until the present day.
