Explanation:

Let the resistance of the two wires be r

Then, Equivalent resistance when connected in series R = r + r = 2r

Equivalent resistance when connected in parallel is 1/R = 1/r + 1/r

=>1/R = 2/r

=>R = r/2

Ratio of the two resistances is

= r/2 ÷ 2r

= r/2 × 1/2r

= 1/4

= 1 : 4

Hence the answer is.

Note :- Heat produced depends upon the resistance of the wires.
