The symbols are the abriviations of the names of the elements , mostly having first one or two letters from their names. and some has Latin derivement too . For ex - Hydrogen - H

The no. of electrons atom loses or gains in order to complete it's electronic configuration is called as valency .

The no. of atoms present in the molecule of an atom is called atomic no.
