Dark reaction is a light independent process in which sugar molecules are formed from carbon dioxide and water molecules. It is also known as carbon -fixing reaction.This reaction occurs in the stroma of the chloroplast where they utilize the products of the light reaction.

LIGHT REACTION:-

=> It is a light dependent process.

=> It occurs in thylakoid membranes of chloroplasts in a leaf.

=> End products are ATP and NADPH

=> Light energy is absorbed in this reaction.

=> Oxygen is released as a by-product.

DARK REACTION:-

=> It is light independent reaction.

=> It occurs in the stroma of the living chloroplast.

=> End products of light reaction are used to synthesise sugars.

=> Carbon dioxide is absorbed from the atmosphere.

=> Main product formed is sugar in the form of glucose.
