Hi..

Metal + Oxygen = Metal Oxide .

Metals react with oxygen of air to form metal oxides. Metal oxides are basic in nature and turn red litmus solution blue.

Example-

Sodium metal reacts with oxygen of air at room temperature to form a metal oxide called sodium oxide.

4Na + O2 --> 2Na2O
Sodium Oxygen Sodium Oxide

Potassium metal reacts with oxygen to give potassium oxide.

4K + O2 --> 2K20

Magnesium metal reacts with oxygen on heating to form magnesium oxide.

2Mg + O2 --> 2MgO

Aluminium metal burns in oxygen on heating to form aluminium oxide.

4Al + 3O2 --> 2Al2O3

Copper metal on strong heating reacts with oxygen to form Copper(II) oxide.

2Cu+ O2 --> 2Cuo

Zinc metal burns in air on strong heating to form zinc oxide.

2Zn+ O2 ---> 2ZnO

Hope it helps...

Diyahermione13: no..
Diyahermione13: non-metal oxides are acids
Venkatasubbu: Oh
Diyahermione13: metal oxides form alkalis when dissoled in water
Venkatasubbu: Then what we will call nonmetals react with oxygen????
Diyahermione13: non-metal oxidea
Venkatasubbu: Thanks
Diyahermione13: welcome
Diyahermione13: pls mark brainliest
Venkatasubbu: Ya I did
