Here in this speech Portia is talking about the young German, the duke of Saxony's nephew. We are enlightened about the fact that he is a sponge i.e. is remains drunk most of the time. Portia explains that this German who had come here to woo her is in the best condition in the morning even though at that time he is drunk is a little worse to be called a man . At the evening is severely drunk and is in his worst condition. He is considered a little better than a beast at that time. So Portia teels Nerissa that she would better prefer to go to the next wooer without saying anything more.
