this is a stable product as :-

1)If it would be ortho or meta chloro hexane then there will be a repulsion between the lone pair of chlorine and π electrons.

Anonymous07: but its not @benzene bro.
Anonymous07: Its @cyclohexene.
kaushikdey: yeah sorry
Anonymous07: Do you know the answer?
kaushikdey: not much sure of it
Anonymous07: Bro. I got the answer.
Anonymous07: The hydrogen got removed from the alpha carbon and Cl of free radical got @added in place of that.
kaushikdey: thanks bro
Anonymous07: My Pleasure.

Answer:

UV light breaks Cl2 into 2Cl radicals. 1Cl radical then attacks cyclohexene to abstract H radical. The most stable carbon free radical can only form on 3-cyclohexene due to resonance that can follow to stabilise the radical formed. Hence, the major product is 3-cyclohexene.

Anonymous07: @Resonance in @cyclo compound without interrupting the double bond. Can you explain How?
