◆ WHAT IS THERMAL EXPANSION ?

ANS. - Thermal expansion is the expansion in length or volume or area of a substance on heating. Length expansion is called as linear expansion ; Volume expansion is called as cubical expansion and Area expansion is called as superficial expansion.

◆ COEFFICIENT OF THERMAL EXPANSION ?

ANS - In a specific material, when the degree of expansion is divided by the degree of change in temperature at constant pressure, then it is called coefficient of thermal expansion.

<marquee> ⭐️ WHY THE PRESSURE HAVE TO BE KEPT CONSTANT </marquee>

Ans - Pressure have an effect on temperature. If pressure increases or decreases, the temperature can increases or decreases correspondingly. So, pressure have to be kept constant.
