hey mate.
let ABC be a triangle right angled at B. if we draw a perpendicular from B till AC then two triangles will be formed. let the perpendicular be named BD then the two triangles formed are abd and bdc. now i have to prove the two triangles similar to each other. For this i will prove that triangle and is similar to triangle ABC also triangle bdc can be proved similar to triangle ABC . so if both the smaller triangles are similar to the bigger one then they will be similar to each other as well.

from the picture we see that in two triangles that is in triangle abd and ABC angle a is common and angle abd and ABC both are 90 degree so they are equal. so now when two angles of two triangles are equal then the triangles are similar and if they are similar then they can taken in proportion.

in this theorem we make sure that while we take the sides in proportion then we get the square of sides other than hypotenuse that is ab and bc
and to get square of ac we make sure that when add the sides taken in proportion form the sum of ac as we can see in the picture.

hope it helps you.

palakhanduja: for eg in triangle abc and adb we have shown that adb is equal to abc
comicalhamburger: Sure , ill keep track of that thc
palakhanduja: we cannot say that abc is equal to abd
comicalhamburger: thx
palakhanduja: abc is equal to adb only
palakhanduja: welcome
comicalhamburger: bye
palakhanduja: to pass in maths or to score good only practice can help
palakhanduja: bye all the best
