All atoms trying to attain nearest Noble gas's outer shells electronic configuration.(almost 2&8 electrons).In other words try's to fill outer shell electrons like noble gases outer shell's electronic configuration

electronic configuration follows in shells as.

ex:-k,l,m and n

k=2, l=8, m=18 and n=32 (formula=2n^2, n=electron shell place)electrons.

silver=Ag

atomic number=47

the electrons in silver distribute in shells as follows.

k=2

l=8

m=18

and n=19

hear we can see that the last shell has 19 electrons,

so it give 1 electron to attain 18electron.

it is easy to give 1 electron for silver to fill last shell like noble gas

The atomic number is 47 and the mass number of the silver is 107.86.It is soft white lustrous metal.It is good conductor of heat and electricity. In most case the valency of Ag is 1, as the d sub-shell has stable configuration if they loss 1 electrons from s sub-shell. There fore the most common valency of silver is 1. But in some exceptional cases it exhibit valency as 2, when it loses electrons from the stable d sub-shell to exhibit transition property of metals.
