p(x)= x^4+ax^3-7x^2+8x+b
x+2
x=-2
p(-2)= (-2)^4+a×-2^3-7×-2^2+8×-2+b
= 16-8a-28-16+b
= -8a-28+b .............(1)
x+3
x =-3
p(-3)= -3^4+a×-3^3-7×-3^2+8×-3+b
=81-27a-63-24+b.........(2)
now equate 1 nd 2,

-8a-28+b=81-27a-87+b
-8a+27a=81-87+27
19a=-6+27
19a=21
a=21/19
now find b like this...

arvind181: There is a mistake in the equation. The corect one is as follows: - 6 - 27a + b = - 28 + b - 8a => - 27a + 8a = - 28 + 6 + b - b => - 19a = - 22 => a = 22/19. But this is answer is not mentioned in the book. It is given a=2 and b=12 which is probably wrong.
arvind181: thanks for answering
