Anupama Abhyankar is an Indian chess player, born on 17th May 1969 in Mumbai. She is married to Dronacharya Award winner Raghunandan Gokhale, who is also a chess player.
Her achievements:-

Anupama Gokhale won the Indian Women's Championship five times in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, and 1997 held at Durg, Vijayawada, Mumbai, Kozhikode, and Kolkata, respectively.

She twice won the Asian Women's Championship in 1985 and 1987 held in Dhaka and Hyderabad respectively.

Anupama became the joint winner with Malaysian player Audrey Wong at the Asian Junior Girls' Championship in Adelaide held in the year 1985, after which both of the players earned the title of Woman International Master (WIM).

She represented Indian national team in three Women’s Chess Olympiads in 1988, 1990 and 1992 held at Valletta, Yugoslovia, and Philippines.

She was a part of the Women’s Asian Team Chess Championships in 2003 and 2005. She won a silver medal with her team in the latter event.

Gokhale was honored with the “Padma Shri” Award in 1986 and with the “Arjuna Award” in 1990, both of which were presented by the Government of India.
