Can anyone help me understand the Transposition Method (class 7, chp:4 Simple Equations).
With some examples and steps

Transposition:

Basically there is a right hand side ( RHS ) and a left hand side (LHS ), they are the two sides of the equal to sign

LHS RHS

using the transposition method you move things from the LHS to the RHS, and things

from the RHS to the LHS

IMP : When you change the side of a value their sign changes, (i.e. addition to subtraction and vice versa,

division to multiplication and vice versa)

in order to find the variable, your exppresion will have to end up with the variable on one side, and the answer on the other side

if you keep doing that you will eventually solve the problem

example: 3x + 28 = 103

to find this first you have to remember the LHS and RHS

LHS RHS

3x + 28 = 103

3x = 103 - 28 (step 1 : bring a value from the LHS to the RHS ) ( here the sign changes from

3x = 75 addition to subtraction)

x = 75 ÷ 3 (here it changes from multiplication to division )

x = 25 (you now have the variable on one side and the value on the other side of the equal to

sign)

this is transposing

your basically reversing the equation, this method can also be used with more variables
